ROBOCOBRA QUARTET CHROMO SUD

Belfast jazz punk band Robocobra Quartet release 9 minute epic 'Chromo Sud' ahead of the release of their new album Living Isn't Easy out tomorrow (17/06) on First Taste Records. Opening with solemn plodding bass chords, wandering sax lines and the lyrics 'shit house, shit flat, got keys, got out' repeated mantra like, the song gradually shifts through a range of atmospheres; spacious and floaty synth sections that build into urgent swells of noise with frantic saxophones, always anchored by the driving bass lines and drummer/singer Chris Ryan's lyricism that flits seamlessly between the mundane and the absurd through repetition and their inimitable conversational delivery and flow. A change of pace from the skippy groove of their last single 'Wellness' that demonstrates the diversity of the bands sound, Living Isn't Easy is shaping up to be one of this years most unique and best albums. -Toby Evans-Jesra
